looking at the different documentations
The documentation helped me to record and reflect what I was doing during my process of creation. It nurtured my process and helped me to improve my work in terms of revising certain parts, refining the concept, content and performativity of the solo.
Composition /Mindmaps
Helped me to find a structure for the solo. It worked in terms of setting a thematic frame for myself although more intellectually than emotionally.
Text of intention
Helped me to clarify my intent and what I want to say. It helped me by giving me a direction of processing my creative work and situating myself within it.
Notes of subjective feelings
Helped me to find my dynamics and attitude in the performativity of my solo and defining my feelings. It helped me by giving me a direction of processing my creative work and situating myself within it.
Dance analysis (Chart) by Laban
Helped me to pin down movements, directions and levels in space which helped me to remember my created material during the process. It supported me in analyzing whether I was true to my intention in terms of dynamics, energy, flow, shape, size weight, timing an quality.
The chart worked in terms of pinning things down but it could not be detailed enough, because one would quickly loose the overview. On the other hand keeping the overview would mean not being detailed enough to give a precise picture.
Floor patterns
Helped me to analyse whether the different sections of the choreography where true to my intention in terms of the use patterns of space i.e. linear, circular.
It worked in terms of analyzing the floor patterns well but is incomplete in terms of analyzing the space patterns as the air pattern would be needed to get a holistic analysis.
Video recording
Helped me to reflect on my process visually. It worked in terms of being a reassurance of what one is doing but is as difficult to catch as a live performance. It is fast, a fleeting documentation, different from the other approaches
