Evaluation of the questionaires
As the questions were left to answer quite freely and as I hadn’t developed any system of evaluation in advance I decided to evaluated the questionnaires in three categories, being the reaction on the
1. The intention and associations of the choreography
2. The intention and associations of the different installations
3. General impression and perception of the exhibition
Some comments concerning the associations were way off, others were repeatedly written down in different ways..
I decided to concentrate on the comments that were found repeatedly. In that sense it is an empiric evaluation.
1.
Describes a search of confined borders of the space, of one’s self being, one’s capabilities.
Deals with confined borders and overcoming limitations. Liberation in the sense to come out of oneself.
Move, getting moved, displacements, rearranging, shifting, minimal displacement that are not visual nor tangible. Such as it is a minimal shifting between “glauben” and “wissen”.
Mechanic vs flow, Fight vs. relaxation, fragmentized
Sensible, unsure – repetition, wanting to confirm oneself- getting surer.
2..
Some installations were very close to the thematic. Other installations depended on the own definition of “glauben” and “wissen”, of one’s own knowledge, one’s own form of believing. Some installations formed transitions and units that formed plains in between. Some installations became works for themselves.
Connections between the installations and choreography were partly not directly obvious and needed a lot of time for the recipient to grab. The more people knew and understood about the thematic and the concept, the more they were able to grab the different installations and their connections. It was very dominantly dancers who could really get something out of it and that got inspired through the exhibition.
Although many associations were way off, taken all the questionnaires together the sense and intention was seen of each single installation.
3.
Getting moved and moving. Mixture of holding and moving
Free space that allowed to bring in one’s own thoughts. Encourages to think further.
Pictures that stay in the space after the dance is finished. Working with intangible elements i.e. sound, light, space
Space, direction, movement, space, position in space, rhythm, timing, form, structure, sound
Chaos resulting in form
Different approaches well combined and fused. General coherence between the different installations and rooms. Process of recognition.
Concentrates on different senses. Holistic impression – more than just visual.
People mentioned to go out of the exhibition with a heighten sensibility.
